1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Kubasa Africa ("Kubasa", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects information about you when you use our website and services to post jobs, offer services, or connect as a homeowner or worker. By creating an account, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2. Information We Collect

• •Account information: full name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), city and suburb.
• •Verification documents: for workers, a government-issued ID and a selfie photo, submitted to confirm identity before you can be approved to accept jobs.
• •Profile information: skills, years of experience, availability, service listings, and profile photo, where provided.
• •Job and proposal content: job descriptions, budgets, proposal messages, quoted prices, and photos attached to a job.
• •Communications: messages exchanged between homeowners and workers through our in-app chat, tied to a specific job.
• •Ratings and reviews: star ratings and written feedback left after a completed job.
• •Payment-related records: job payment status (agreed price, marked as paid) and credit purchase records tied to your account (amount, status, timestamps). We do not store full card numbers or mobile money PINs — those are handled directly by the relevant payment provider once card/mobile money processing is live.
• •Usage information: pages viewed, job views, device and browser type, and approximate location inferred from the city you provide.

3. How We Use Your Information

• •To create and manage your account, and to let homeowners and workers find and evaluate each other.
• •To verify worker identity before allowing them to submit proposals or accept jobs — this exists to protect homeowners inviting workers into their homes.
• •To process job proposals and invites, track job payment status, process credit purchases, and notify you about activity on your account.
• •To enable in-app messaging between a homeowner and a worker matched on a specific job.
• •To calculate and display ratings, completed-job history, and earnings/spend on public profiles.
• •To detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms, and to keep the platform safe.
• •To improve the product and understand how the platform is used in aggregate.

4. When We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances:

• •With the other party in a job: when you submit a proposal, accept one, or send/receive an invite, your name, city, rating, and relevant job details become visible to that counterparty so they can decide whether to work with you.
• •Public profile pages: a worker's name, city, skills, verification badge, rating, completed-job history and total earned are visible on their public profile page, since this is how homeowners evaluate who to hire. A homeowner's name, city, rating and job history are similarly visible to workers.
• •Verification review: ID documents and selfies are only accessible to our verification team for the purpose of approving or rejecting a worker application.
• •Service providers: we use third-party infrastructure (such as cloud hosting and image storage) to run the platform. These providers only process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
• •Legal requirements: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kubasa, our users, or the public.

5. Payments

Kubasa does not currently hold or process payment for jobs. When a proposal is accepted, we record the agreed price and track the job through to completion, but payment is arranged directly between the homeowner and worker — for example by cash, EcoCash, or bank transfer — and Kubasa is not a party to that transaction. Separately, workers use non-monetary credits to submit proposals; new workers currently receive free credits, and paid credit top-ups by card or mobile money (Visa, Mastercard, Paynow, Pesepay, InnBucks) are not yet available. Once that goes live, those payment providers will process your payment details directly under their own privacy and security terms — Kubasa does not store full card numbers.

6. Data Retention

We retain account and job data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, satisfy legal obligations, and maintain the integrity of ratings and job history for other users. Verification documents are retained only as long as necessary to maintain your verified status and may be deleted on request once no longer required for an open dispute or legal obligation.

7. Your Rights

• •Access and correct the personal information in your profile at any time from your account settings.
• •Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• •Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to records we are required to keep for legal, safety, or dispute-resolution purposes (such as completed job and payment history).
• •Withdraw consent for verification document processing by not submitting them — note this means you will not be able to accept jobs as a worker.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage and access controls on sensitive data such as verification documents and payment records. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Kubasa account.

9. Children's Privacy

Kubasa is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will take steps to remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform evolves — for example, as real payment processing goes live. We will update the "last updated" date below when we do. Continued use of Kubasa after a change means you accept the updated policy.
